Causes of Missing Speeds on New Fans: Rubber Shipping Blocks: Many companies use rubber shipping blocks to keep the motor from shifting in transit. These must be removed to put the blades on the fan. The blocks keep the motor from spinning. Reverse Switch: This should be in a distinct position, flip the switch to make sure its not in-between positions. Fan Pull Chain: If you have a wall control which you use to control speeds or an add-on remote control, you need to make sure the fan pull chain is pulled to the highest speed. Even though you never use the chain, the installer, guests, or others might have used the pull chain on the fan to change speeds because they were not aware of the existence of a remote control or wall switch within the room. Connections: Re-Check any connections you may have made during installation. Inspect wiring in the area where the pull chain and reverse switch are located for a loose wire. Also if applicable, inspect the wiring harness connection plug which attaches the pull chain housing to the fan motor for a loose connection or a wire which has popped out of the harness when you plugged the harness together. Wall Control Switch: Perhaps the wall control switch is not working correctly or was hooked up incorrectly. Refer to the installation instructions which came with the switch, or try a new on/off switch to see if the fan works once the original switch is removed. |
